Navigation

Teonn is a live action role-playing game with a dark fantasy setting. You either play a character of your own creation (Player Character, Players or ‘PC’) or play characters given to you by the game masters to help tell the story (Non-Player Character, Crew or ‘NPC’). This rulebook will tell you everything you need to know about participating in Teonn from the out of character information to do with safety to the history of the setting, and the nuts and bolts of the rules. If there is a question you want answered that we have missed, feel free to email us at teonnnz@gmail.com.

WHAT IS LARP

A live action role-playing game (LARP) is a form of role-playing game where the participants physically act out their characters' actions. The players pursue goals within a fictional setting represented by the real world, while interacting with each other in character. The outcome of player actions may be mediated by game rules, or determined by consensus among players. Event organisers called ‘Game Masters’ decide the setting and rules to be used and facilitate play. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_action_role-playing_game)

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

There are two different groups of participants during Teonn, Players and Crew. Both offer excellent opportunities for role-playing but serve different roles throughout the weekend.

Players

People who sign up as players take the role of their own character, one that they have written a background and goals for.  They organise and bring all of their own costume and personal props. During the game players interact with the world that has been created and pursue their own goals. To sign up as a player go through the Character Creation guide to create your character.

Crew

Every town needs its inn keeps, its drunkards, and its simple farmers, and it is the role of the crew to play roles that flesh out the game world. As crew you will turn up at the game and report to the Game Masters for a briefing on the role you will be playing for however long the Game Masters needs you to play that role.  Email us at teonnnz@gmail.com if you want to participate as crew.

Help

If you are new or experienced or just need some advice there is a forum called Diatribe where you can go to get connected with other players, crew, and other members of the larping community. It is a great place to go to talk about character ideas, costume/prop creation or just to say hello. You can find the forum at http://diatribe.co.nz/viewforum.php?f=111

As always you are still welcome to send any questions or comments to teonnnz@gmail.com
